Description
Finsbury A Cappella
Conducted by Charles Béquignon-MacDougall
Monday 22nd June at 7.30pm
St Mark’s Church, Myddelton Square, EC1R 1XX
Finsbury A Cappella presents a varied range of pieces from Holst (the ethereal Hymn to the Waters) to Hollywood (Jennifer Lucy Cook’s arrangement of What Was I Made For?) via songs by living composers including Tracey Wong, Sarah Quartel, Bob Chilcott, and Marie-Claire Saindon.
At the heart of this programme is joy – not as something simple or surface-level, but as something hard-won, shared, and deeply human. Through music that explores identity, growth, resilience and connection, we move from moments of quiet reflection to full, unapologetic celebration. These songs remind us that joy can be found in finding our voice, in singing together, and in embracing who we are – individually and collectively.
Tickets £15 for adults, £8 for students in full time education / under 18s / Universal Credit recipients / registered disabled.
Refreshments will be available to purchase.
This concert is part of Amwell 200, a ten-day celebration of the people who have shaped and influenced the Amwell locality in south Islington since the 1820s. From 19-28 June there are talks, walks, street sketching classes, concerts, a guided coach trip to Great Amwell and a Bicentenary Picnic. Further details are available here: amwell.org.uk/amwell-200
